Ipheion
(Dutch name: Old Females or Spring Star)
Naturalizing: via bulb / bulb propagation. (Note: Ipheion Alberto Castillo and Charlotte Bishop® also increase through spreading of the seed.)
Light conditions: half shadow - full sun
Ipheion is a, for many still unknown, beautiful and grateful bulbous plant which should not be missing in your garden.
The star-shaped flowers cheer up every garden (and people) in the early spring. Each bulb gives about 5 flowers. The bulbs and the leaves give off a slight garlic odor and that is why the Ipheion is also planted between rose bushes to prevent the rose eels. They natualize well and if they feel well they even bloom twice in one year.
